Our U21s had an impressive win in the semi final of the U21 C1 semi- final in Meelick against Cratloe on Sunday afternoon. The game was rescheduled for Dec 18th after falling foul to freezing conditions on the previous Sunday. Yesterday by comparison provided good conditions for hurling even in December, and the Mills lads were quick out of the blocks with 3 points from Darragh Moroney at centre forward. Cratloe, played with an extra player in defence to try and curb the threat of full forward Colm Cleary, but it was our corner forward Rory O'Neill who raced through and produced a green flag in the 13th minute. Cratloe however remained in the game with Jake Moylan accurate from placed balls, but were struggling to score from play, with the Mills defence resolute. Centre back Cormac Murphy produced the score of the half when collecting a ball inside his own half, racing forward and hitting with accuracy from the sideline. Half time score was 1-8 to 7.

The Mills started the 2nd half the brighter again with Fionn Hickey, Cormac Murphy and Colm Cleary quickly registering scores, the latter moving out to midfield for the 2nd half. Darragh Moroney continued the 2nd half like he started the 1st and ended up with 6 points from play. Cratloe goaled late on in what was their 1st score from play in the 26th minute, and quickly added on another point straight after but it too little too late, and nobody could deny the Mills were the better side through out. Final Score 1-19 to 1-11.

It will be a quick turn around to the the county final, to be played this Thursday 7.30pm in Gurteen. The opposition will be a strong Parteen/Meelick side who had the better of Whitegate in the other semi-final.

Well Done to all involved, and best of luck in the final.
